"Haifeng Cagayan" successfully rescued two Filipino fishermen in distress in Philippine waters

On December 14, 2023 , the ship "Haifeng Cagayan" successfully rescued two Filipino fishermen in distress in Philippine waters.

During the voyage of the ship "SITC Cagayan", the crew on duty on the bridge found people floating on the sea. After careful observation, it was confirmed that they were two people who fell into the water and were lying on a fishing boat that was about to sink. ” Wheel waved his arms and clothes.

The captain of the ship "Haifeng Cagayan" immediately sounded the alarm, started the rescue procedure for people who fell into the water, and quickly gathered all the crew members to carry out the rescue. After receiving the report, SITC Ship Management Company immediately launched an emergency plan and coordinated rescue operations.

Due to the high winds and strong waves in the sea area where the incident occurred, it was very difficult to rescue the fishermen in distress even if the ship "Haifeng Cagayan" got close to them. Throwing lifebuoys, lowering rope ladders and safety nets are not enough to safely rescue fishermen who have fallen into the water. The captain immediately decided to release the lifeboat, and the crew disembarked with the lifeboat to rescue the fishermen in distress.

After the fishermen in distress were rescued on the boat, the crew prepared hot water for them to rinse, provided them with clean clothes, mineral water, food, milk, blankets, etc., and took turns taking care of them. After being rescued, they kept bowing to the crew, with tears in their eyes. Although they couldn't understand the language, their gratitude was beyond words. With proper care, they are recovering in good health.

At around 15:00 , the Philippine Coast Guard sent officials aboard the ship to receive the rescued fishermen based on the captain’s report. The Philippine Coast Guard officials highly praised the rescue operation of the ship “Haifon Cagayan” and expressed their appreciation for the ship “Haifeng Cagayan”. The ship's crew expressed their gratitude for the timely and professional rescue and meticulous care provided to the fishermen in distress.
